Edge of 18 is about motherhood. Being a mother has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. My two children, a daughter and a son, have taught me how to love unconditionally and what it means to sacrifice for another human, and they have brought me tremendous joy.
All mothers are faced with their children becoming adults and leaving home. As my youngest was in that transition on the edge of adulthood, I found myself wanting to remember the details of my last child being in the house. I knew I would miss his presence, his energy, his essence, and I didn’t want to forget what it was like. So, I documented his last years with me. It is a tribute to our mother/son relationship and to Leo’s evolution to manhood and independence.
“Where you lead, I will follow
Anywhere that you tell me to
If you need, you need me to be with you
I will follow where you lead” (song by Carole King)
